Misc. Quotes

V-4. Love of Eating. Love of food and a warm appreciation of the process of eating, for its own sake.  Not to be confused with a mere voracious appetite.  There is a deep joy in eating, and a considerable fuss and ceremony are made over eating.  Usually there is a history of having overeaten and of having desired more food than was needed to maintain normal weight or growth.  In a true motivational sense the individual lives, partially at least, to eat.  Eating is one of the principal pleasure of life, if not indeed the greatest pleasure.  Even when not eating, it is very pleasant to be doing something with the mouth – sucking or chewing. (Viscerotonic people are indefatigable kissers).  If well educated, such a person usually has a deep interest in cuisine and a wide knowledge of foods and their preparation.  At lower levels he tends merely to become a glutton.”
